Meet the Board Members...


Jazel  Peterzell

Jazel  Peterzell - Director
Proud mother to her ASD princess.  Jazel’s background is in Human Resources and the legal field.  Jazel enjoys the outdoors tremendously and when she’s not at her computer working on Autism Action’s fun stuff, she can be found doing mommy-stuff for her family, either making numerous attempts at climbing the many trails up Table Mountain, walking with her family and her dogs,  training for the Two Oceans Half Marathon 2009 to raise awareness for Autism, and overall enjoying the South African vibe.

Enid Sinequan Paul Peterzell - Director
Proud Daddy to his ASD princess. Paul is an Electrical Engineer, graduated from the University of South California in San Diego. Paul worked for Qualcomm Inc. for 19 years, rose to the position of Vice President, Engineering. He is a named inventor on 19 US patents in the fields of IC and cellular phone design, but his real passion is climbing Table Mountain with his companion, Trinity – our German Shepherd, embracing his Capricorn nature. You can either find Paul working from home, training for the Two Oceans Half, and enjoying the great outdoors and vibe of the Cape Province.

My work experience is within the travel industry but I am passionate about new ways to assist children with special needs as I have a son who has his own set of challenges as he has a form of dyslexia. I also serve of the board of The Home of Hope which is a safe house for abused, abandoned, neglected and HIV children.

Sarah Murchison
SARAH MURCHISON is very proud mum to 11 year old Robert, who has autism and defines himself as "the best Lego builder on the planet". Robert is currently at a wonderful small "mainstream" school in Cape Town annd doing brilliantly. Sarah is passionate about ensuring parents get the right advice on their journey with autism and is thrilled with the opportunity to be involved through Autism Action. Sarah is a partner in an advertising and marketing recruitment business, paints in her (limited) spare time, as well as walking with her husband Alan and Robert on the mountain.

Pule Taukobong

Pule Taukobong
Pule is currently a Wealth Manager at Investec Private Bank. At wealth management, he seeks to advise clients on asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction. His focus is to deliver the best risk-adjusted returns for his clients both on and offshore according to their requirements, from the short-term to across generations. He also seeks to deliver investment banking solutions which have traditionally been available only to institutions, to individuals.

Pule started off his investment experience within Investec Securities as a trader. Thereafter he became a Private Client Portfolio Manager and managed portfolios on a full discretionary basis and also continued to trade. The majority of his client base was private clients but also included some institutional funds. Pule also formed part of the Investec Securities Investment Committee Team and was responsible for providing research and analysis on the ICT (Information, Communication & Technology) sector.

Bonita Beryl Faro

Bonita Beryl Faro
Bonita Beryl Faro is a very passionate primary school educator who is teaching at Portia Primary School in Lansdowne. She is married to Rev. Deon Christie Faro who serves as a minister at the Anglican Church of Christ the Saviour in Mitchells Plain. She has two children, a daughter Shaylene who is in grade 5 and a son , Amron who has been diagnosed on the autistic spectrum and is now in grade 1. They are both attending Sunlands Primary School in Lansdowne. Bonita has over 20 years of experience in the teaching profession and is serving as Department Head for a numbers of years now. Amron’s condition has been a real challenge and a learning curve, something for which her twenty years of experience as a teacher could not prepare her adequately.

Deon Christie Faro Deon Christie Faro
Deon Christie Faro serves as a minister in The Anglican Church of Christ the Saviour in Lentegeur. He is married to Bonita Beryl Faro who is a teacher by profession who teaches at Portia Primary School in Lansdowne.
He has two children, a daughter Shaylene who is in grade 5 and a son, Amron who has been diagnosed with Autism but attending grade 1 in a mainstream school. Deon is a minister for over 15 years who served in many parishes in and around the Cape Metropole as well as outside in the rural areas. Deon has a passion for development work in communities especially empowerment of young people and children with skills in order to reach their full potential. He has served on the Board of the YMCA  of the Western Cape for a number of years where introduce the Better Life programmes to many communities and served them with zeal and dedication.
Janine Tromczynski

Janine Tromczynski
Janine Tromczynski is a Senior Project Manager in the Information Technology arena, contracting for an IT specialist house. She is currently living in Big Bay, Cape Town after having relocated from Johannesburg at the beginning of 2008.

Her connection to autism is through family and friends who have ASD children and she would like to use her project management skills to assist in making a difference in the lives of children having ASD.

Dr. Danielle Liso

Dr. Danielle Liso, PhD, BCBA.
Clinical Consultant to Autism Action
An assistant professor of special education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She received her Bachelors degree in Literature from the University of North Florida and her Masters degree in Severe and Profound Disabilities from Johns Hopkins University.  Danielle has a Doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education from Vanderbilt University and is a Certified Behavior Analyst.  She has specialized in autism spectrum disorders for 12 years and has worked as a classroom teacher, behavioral consultant, researcher, and trainer.  She has spoken at national and international conferences on a variety of topics, including autism, positive behavioral support strategies, and parent training.  Dr. Liso’s courses focus on autism and other severe disabilities, including instructional planning, communication and social skills, classroom programming, and applied behavioral principles.
